Pastor Shean has been at Vienna since August of 2017, when he became the Interim Pastor. God called Dr. Phillips to be the Lead pastor in January of 2019. Shean has been in pastoral roles in a few different churches since 1997.
Dr. Phillips completed an undergraduate degree in Bible and Youth Ministry from Piedmont International University in 1997. He went on to pastor in various roles (Associate, Family, Small Groups and Youth) until 2014. He earned a masters degree in Youth Ministry in 2006 and another one in Christian Education in 2007 both from Liberty Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, VA. A couple of times a year, Pastor Shean travels overseas and serves native pastors by training them in the Bible and in ministry. In 2015, Pastor Shean earned his Doctorate in Educational Ministries concentrating in Discipleship and Family Ministry at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is passionate about family and ministry to families and this passion is evident both inside and outside of the church
Shean enjoys playing basketball and riding bikes with his children. He also enjoys the local disc golf courses when the weather is nice. Shean currently lives in Winston-Salem with his wife Angie, daughters Ariana and Tatiana and two sons Adrian and Jordan. They enjoy spending time outdoors.
Pastor’s Shean’s favorite verse is Psalm 63:3 which says “Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.”
